Dick Shingai Chiriwo

Dick Shingai Chiriwo

Ginnery Manager

He has been with the cotton processing industry from 1991 to date. His area of experience is plant maintenance and production/processing, with particular emphasis on productivity, equipment and labour efficiency and quality assurance. The first 15 years were spent with The Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (COTTCO), the largest cotton buyer and processor in Zimbabwe. Achieving ISO certification for all COTTCO sites was an achievement for all those that were involved in this milestone. Increasing crop production through contract farming with small holder farmers was also one of the most gratifying experiences with this organization. Post COTTCO, Dick joined Olam Tanzania Limited as Ginnery Manager for the Bunda plant in 2006 up until June 2020. This was an exciting period in the Tanzania cotton sector, following the move from cooperatives to private sector. The cotton sector grappled with improving productivity through modern agronomy practices and through improved quality of inputs to farmers and farmer support. A major achievement was piloting contract farming and later being part of the rollout team. Post Olam, Dick joined 4C PROTARDE LTD from July 2020 as service provider in supervision of cotton processing at Bunda Ginnery.
